Glossary
Full-time equivalent (FTE): A regular building occupant who spends 40 hours per week
in the project building. Part-time or overtime occupants have FTE values based on their
hours per week divided by 40. Multiple shifts are included or excluded depending on
the intent and requirements of the credit. (USGBC)
The type of occupant and the hours they work each week are used to
determine the number of FTEs. FTE values are then used in the calculations
of the baseline and design case water use.
The types of flush and flow fixtures are used when calculating the baseline
and design cases for water use. Examples include bathroom faucets, urinals,
water closets.
The amount of water used in the baseline and design case is used to
determine the percent reduction. The FTE calculations are used in calculating
these values but these values are not used to determine the number of FTEs. |
